Doo Dah Parade HOWLelujah Chorus

What it is: The Doo Dah Parade is an outrageous, funny, slightly over-the-top parade put on by the Light-Bringer Project, a non-profit foundation that raises money to transform the quality of life in communities by providing arts and cultural programs that promote creative enterprising, volunteerism, and community building. BHRSC pays the Light-Bringer Project for each person who marches, and so contributes to their innovative efforts; therefore, there is a $15.00 entry fee for each (human) participant. In addition, marchers are asked to collect pledges as a fundraiser for BHRSC before the parade date and bring them to the parade.

What we do: We amass hundreds of hounds, dress them in choir collars and bows, and march in a large group accompanied by boom boxes blaring the Hallelujah Chorus and howling hounds. We collect pledges from family and friends before the parade to help BHRSC continue its efforts to help homeless hounds.

Where it is: We meet in Memorial Park, Pasadena, by the statue of the soldier on Raymond Street (south of Walnut). The Parade route is .7 mile one-way (then you have to walk back). We'll have a 1965 Cadillac ambulance as a Pooped Pup Vehicle for those who need it!

Directions: From the 210 Freeway, exit on Fair Oaks, go south less than a mile to Walnut and turn left. The park is one block, on the right.. There is metered street parking in the area; meters fill up by 9 a.m. (and they ticket!). You can enter early to drop off bassets (tell the street police you're dropping off for a parade entry). There is parking at Parsons (near Walnut and Fair Oaks); a parking structure on Holly west of Morengo; and free parking southeast of the park at the Pasadena Center. Come early, relax a bit, and avoid the rush.

Registration is from 9:00-11:00 a.m. We will march off at noon. Remember to bring your pledges, water for your dog, and clean up supplies (there are people marching behind us!) We'll have trash cans in the parade with us, and Dispoz-a-Scoops. If you are in danger of flat Basset, bring a wagon.
