As I arrived home from shopping and entered the house, things were not quite the same. Where was that special greeting from our precious hounds? All that could be heard was the rustle of a bag. Upon entering the kitchen, the tail end of our foster Ralphie could be seen exiting the doggie door. As I looked into the back yard their appeared to be a party going on. Bags of chips, Ritz crackers and cookies were being enjoyed by all. The main course of pretzels was being delivered by Ralphie. All we can say is that now the cabinets have hound proof latches and there are no unsupervised parties. When Ralphie first came to live with us, surgery had been performed to remove 5 large fatty lumps. He then developed or had without our knowledge, back problems. He could hardly walk and at one time we all thought we would loose him to the bridge. While he was sick Ralphie had to be pulled around in a wagon if some of you remember. Once the proper medication was found he made a remarkable recovery. The love, will to live and new medicine shocked everyone, even his doctor. Ralphie can now be seen running and playing at the Breakfast with Bassets event every first Saturday of the month. And yes without his wagon! He has quickly become a non-stop whirlwind of entertainment. Frequently needed to be reminded to slow down. Being named the King of BHRSC for the Doo Dah Parade, royalty has gone to his head. We never thought that fostering would be so rewarding, Ralphie will always have a special place in our hearts. Stan & Donna Fry
